Sources on the history of medical technology
The Siemens Healthineers MedArchive and associated reference library are the repositories of knowledge on the history of the company and the technologies behind the Siemens Healthcare GmbH today. This is where the information, ideas, and stories showcased at the MedMuseum come from.
The Siemens Healthineers MedArchive is one of the world’s most important medical technology archives. Its collection stretches back to the 19th century. The collection includes nearly 750 meters of shelf space full of files, 400 photo albums, over 20,000 printed photos, 20,000 negatives, 1,200 films, over 200 volumes of company publications, and much more.
Karl Lasser was the first archivist to work with Siemens medical technology. He collected the materials on the company’s history from its inception to 1950. His work was then taken up by a number of dedicated employees, who have continued collecting materials and caring for the collection to the present day.
The Siemens Healthineers MedArchive library is home to a collection of books and other printed materials on medical technology. More than 1,000 volumes on the history of the company and technologies are stored here.
